The Installation of Lincade ist quite easy. You only need the ISO image, which is available here in the dowload area. The system where you would like to install it, should be equipped with a Matrox G100, G200, G400 or ATI Rage/Radeon/AVGA grafics adapter. These cards are supported out of thebox. Optimal support get the Matrox cards. Whith Matrox cards you will have 15khz already in the linux console. This is with ATI cards not possible. Owner of AVGA cards will have 15Khz everywhere, because the AVGA is a modified Radeon cards which only will do 15Khz.

Installation Steps

1.) Boot the computer from the CD, this will take 3 - 5 minutes
2.) choose your language
3.) just follow the steps in the  setup, actually is just pressing enter enough until the copying of the files begin
4.) after all files are copied, you can choose the network card configuration, if the system comes with a network card
5.) next step is, to choose your graphic card (Matrox/AVGA,Radeon)
6.) after that, the bootloader will be installed and your system has to be rebooted.
7.) remove the CD and select in the boot menu "PC Mode" to do the final installation steps (sound e.g.)

Settping up your soundcard

A large amount of diffrent soundcard are supported. The following steps are necessary to get sound  working:

mame@arcade ~ $ su
Password:

The password is mame. Now we can start the soundcard detection utility from the prompt:

arcade mame# alsaconf

The tool alsaconf is more or less self explainung. After the first commitment of the Welcome Screen with enter, it searches for your soundacard. Choose your already marked soundcard with enter. The questions "Do you want to modify /etc/modules.d/alsa?" should also just commited with Enter. At the end Alsaconf loads the driver. To make your system doing this automatically on every reboot, type in the following command:

arcade mame# rc-update add alsasound default

After this, your Lincade installation is complete! To change the volume setting you can use the tool alsamixer from the prompt. With mpg123 Filename.mp3 you can play MP3 files for testing.

To get back to the default user just type in:

root arcade# exit

Your system is now ready to be used in your cab.
