This is actually not implemented, means not really a bug. Just a missing feature.

In the next release, you will have the english keyboad setting by default. I already included a tool to change the layout very comfortable in the upcoming release.

The Current Install image 0.031pre2 asks user what keymap to use when booting.

IF that choice is stored in /etc/conf.d/keymaps then this post install script could be used to update the new install keymaps file

KEYMAP="$(awk -F\" '/KEYMAP=/{print $2}' /etc/conf.d/keymaps)" &&  sed "/KEYMAP=/s/.*/KEYMAP=\"$KEYMAP\"/" /etc/conf.d/keymaps > #/mountpoint/etc/conf.d/keymaps

changing #/mountpoint/ to wherever you mount the new partition that has been setup


details:
awk is used to read /etc/conf.d/keymaps and store result in KEYMAP variable

KEYMAP="$(awk -F\" '/KEYMAP=/{print $2}' /etc/conf.d/keymaps)"

sed is then used to read the /etc/conf.d/keymaps file and replace the KEYMAP= line with the new KEYMAP="$KEYMAP" variable that was loaded by awk.  output is sent to new install partition.

sed "/KEYMAP=/s/.*/KEYMAP=\"$KEYMAP\"/" /etc/conf.d/keymaps > #/mountpoint/etc/conf.d/keymaps

Possible changes:
use the etc/conf.d/keymaps from the new partition as the source for sed

I do not know much linux scripting and have made guesses based on online documentation for awk and sed.  if there is a better way to do this please post here.
